Emerging Artist Network Exchange
Across cultures, the arts have historically embodied a core expression of the human experience in ways that connect, communicate and uplift the soul in its purest forms. The arts act as an organic lens through which to view and connect cultural understandings and contributions. Subsequently, artists ultimately serve as transformative leaders and global ambassadors to both the individuals and groups they represent. Considering the significant impact of the arts in society, the goal of the Emerging Artist Exchange is to use the Arts as a vehicle to enhance understanding and connectedness as historical and cultural uplift across the African Diaspora. This goal will be accomplished by developing and equipping artists to use their gifts and talents to positively impact the dispersed
African descendants, using the arts as tools of communication, interconnectedness, education and uplift. This initiative was guided by highly acclaimed artists, Katrina Andry, Visual Artist, and Delfeayo Marsalis, Music Composer and Producer, with curriculum development led by Dr. Raquel Ezell, ADC Vice President for Global Artistic Initiatives, and historical accuracy and guidance from Dr. Michael Gomez, Professor, New York University, and will enable Emerging Artists across countries to collective produce new works of art to be shared with the most vulnerable members of society in their respective and across countries.
All three of these ambitious initiatives are grounded in our philosophy that shared lessons across the Diaspora can lead to new paradigms and new directions for addressing the chronic challenges confronting Black populations around the globe. ADC has been collectively conceived and guided by the engagement and work of individuals in each partner country, emphasizing our strongest belief in true partnerships, where no country situates itself over another. ADC invites partners to join us in making a vital investment toward the achievement of these goals.
